Dorota Taranek comes from Żyrardów, Poland. She graduated from the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Łódź. She is an adjunct professor in the Textiles Architecture Institute of the Łódź University of Technology. Dorota is an author of artistic textiles, specialized in creating jacquards. She paints on silk. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including: Silver Medal at the 14th International Triennial of Tapestry in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź in 2013; the Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodeship Prize - the 8th International Baltic Triennial of Miniature Textiles in the Museum of the City of Gdynia in 2010; distinction at the “From Lausanne to Beijing” International Fiber Art Biennale in Nantong, China in 2014; distinction at the “Pamiątka z Polski” Competition in the State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw in 2009; the AKAPI Foundation Award in debutant category at the 12th International Triennial of Tapestry in the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź in 2007; nomination for the prize at the 13th Polish National Exhibition of the Unique Textiles in Łódź in 2016.
