Biography:
Marta was born in 1930. She graduated from the Lvov School of Applied Arts in 1950 and from the Lvov Academy of Fine Arts in 1957. From 1957 to 1963 she worked on designing textiles inspired by Ukrainian folk art in the Model House in Lvov, Ukraine. Since 1963 she has worked as an academic teacher at the Faculty of Textile Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lvov. She works with hand-weaving, watercolours, drawing, as well as costumes and painting on textiles. In the 1970s she made costumes for the G. Wierowka State Academic Folk Choir and for the “Trembita” Lvov Band as well as for many folk groups from Galicia, Polesia and Volhynia. Marta has participated in numerous exhibitions, fairs, congresses, and fashion shows in Ukraine and abroad. She was often awarded for her artworks, for example in Brussels, Tokyo, Leipzig, Warsaw, Paris, London, New York and Belgrade. Her works can be found in museum collections in Ukraine and in private collections in the UK, the USA and Israel.
